This section of our website is being updated; if you cannot find what you’re looking for from the navigation links on this page, please e-mail the web manager or speak to club officials to let them know what you were after - we may be able to provide it for others in future!

Bristol Central Swimmers Return Home!

Nine swimmers aged 12-14yrs who were attending a warm weather training camp in Spain were stranded in Calella for 5 days unable to get back to Bristol.  The Crol Centre in Calella kindly provided  free pool time , giving the County and Regional swimmers the opportunity to continue with their important training programme.

Unfortunately,  due to cancelled Ryanair flights and the French railway strike the team was unable to get back to Bristol until Wednesday.  The team travelled  from Calella to Lille for 12 hours overnight in two taxi's where they caught the Eurostar train to London and Bristol coach company, Peter Carol picked up the team from London and brought them back to Bristol making it a 24hour trip home.

Marion Britton would like to thank Karen Brown and Hayley Clements for their help and support and swim camp coach Richard Bryant and all the swimmers for using the problem as an  opportunity to continue training in the sunshine in the 50m Olympic size pool and for enduring the difficult journey home.

Photos from the camp can be seen here

Bristol Central Sprint Competition 2010
