AGM NEWSLETTER

TO ALL MEMBERS AND PARENTS

Once again it is time to hold our Annual General Meeting where the Club Officials report to the membership on the key events and results from the last 12 months, pass on some thoughts for next year and seek to fill the formal Committee and Section posts.   This years meeting will take place in Room CR4 on the 4th floor of the Students Union Building on Friday 23rd November starting at 8.15pm – after the club session - and your Committee would like to extend an invitation to all members (although only those aged 14 and over may vote on any issue) and parents to join us.

The business of an AGM is often fairly straightforward and does not therefore take too long although this year it will include approval of a new set of Rules – because of revised ASA requirements – a minor change to our Committee structure and a discussion on next years financial outlook and its effect on fees for 2008.  Copies of last years minutes and the Annual Reports from each section will be posted on our new website in mid November and it would greatly assist the club if any required hard copies could be drawn from that source. A more limited number than before of hard copies will be made available nearer the time and at the meeting. I hope you will take the opportunity to update yourself on the information about the club and the requirements we have for future improvements that will be detailed.  The elections and the section reviews are important – a lot of hard work goes into preparing the Annual Reports and I know that the authors would welcome your support and would also be willing to discuss any of the content.  In addition attending the meeting can sometimes give you a better understanding of what goes into running a club like ours and might, hopefully, encourage some to also consider taking on a more active role in the future.  We would therefore appreciate your attendance but if that is not possible I do hope you will find some things of interest in the information that will be provided.

Nomination boards for the Club Officials are currently on display at the University Pool and members are welcome to nominate willing people for the various positions.  If anyone wants to find out more about the roles to be filled make sure they speak to any of the current Committee first.

The Agenda for the Annual General Meeting is as follows:

  1. Apologies for absence
  2. Minutes of the previous AGM held on 24 November 2006 (Copies will be available at the AGM and will be displayed beforehand on the university pool notice board and web site)
