WESTERN COUNTIES TALENT ID SQUAD – SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING 2008
On 8 September an “open” selection day was held for promising youngsters in the South West who wished to be considered for the Talent ID Squad for 2008.
24 swimmers arrived for the half day of intensive assessments of swimming, synchro, dance and gymnastics.
The standard this year had improved dramatically from last and it was obvious that the message is getting across to the clubs that in order to be “complete” synchronised swimmers, the athletes need to have the grace and poise of a dancer, strength and flexibility of a gymnast, speed and fitness of a swimmer and the technical excellence of a synchronised swimmer.

Saturday 26 January Testing Day for Squad at Quantock
- Saturday/Sunday 15/16 March Weekend at Quantock for Squad
- Sunday 27 April Day at Quantock
- Sunday 18 May Day at Quantock
- Saturday/Sunday 14/15 June Weekend at Quantock (could be one day for Talent ID Squad, depends how they go in March)
- Saturday 5 July Testing at Quantock for the squad to show how much improvement since March
